TOT in the second year

2011-10-27~11-19

TOTs for principals and ATs in Savanakhet and Kammouane provinces were conducted following TOTs in Champasack held in September. ITSME trainers worked eagerly on preparations, implementations and feedbacks of TOTs. As a result, we had conducted them successfully and fruitfully.

1. Preparations for TOTs(3 days from 27th of October)

First of all, we confirmed materials which were used in TOTs in Champasack province. As basic contents are completed through Champasak TOTs, we concentrated on enhancing the expressions of sentences based on the comments of participants in last workshop. Besides, some trainers prepared their presentations, especially explanations of model lesson plans with demonstrations of science experiments and math teaching materials. We felt their positive attitude toward TOTs through their careful preparations.

2. Implementations of TOTs(2 days in each district from 31st of October)

Trainers introduced outline of ITSME project and model lesson plan with confidence. It was bit difficult for them to make the participants understand deeply the characteristics of model lesson plans and planning of internal supervision because it was quite new for the participants. However, through their presentations, we could realize trainers' improvements on the mastery of ITSME Project and lesson plans. Furthermore, we could obtain useful comments from participants in terms of time allocations of the lessons. Thus, we continuously need to consider those comments to produce more appropriate lesson plans for schools. All in all, most participants gave us positive comments like "we want to use it in our school as it is easy to understand."

3. Feedback session(Half day after each TOT and 4 days from 16th of November)

After each TOT, we discussed the contents of materials and the way of presentations to improve the following TOT. It was very hard for trainers to change the way of presentation within a short time. However, their hard work on the improvement of presentations made participants understand better.

Through implementation and feedback of TOTs, a model TOT was finally established. As trainers shared their experiences in each TOT with other trainers, they were able to respond to schools providing appropriate advice based on the shared information. In terms of ITSME future activities, the project will conduct monitoring of internal supervisions at each school following the schedule planed in TOTs. Moreover, we will make a manual for ITSME activities, which guides the implementation of internal supervision for schools, and produce model lesson plans continuously.
