First workshop in the third year

2012-06-18~06-22

The First workshop was held at Savannakhet TTC from 18 to 22 June. This workshop consisted of planning of project activities, lectures by Japanese experts and making lesson plans. In addition, the project added 8 trainers from 8 DEBs in order to enhance project activities.

1. Explanation of project action plan for directors and trainers

On the first day of the workshop, the project invited directors from target DEB, PES and 2 TTCs. Almost all activities were agreed and got strong commitment by the directors for the implementation.

2. Pre-test and short lectures on the selected topics.

Each TTC trainer prepared draft of model lesson plans which topics were selected by themselves for the group discussion. In order to realize the trainers' prerequisite knowledge on the selected topics, we had short test for them. Then, Japanese experts provided the lectures of subject knowledge together with the exposition of the test on each topic to help trainers making lesson plans. Additionally, Japanese experts explained the points on lesson planning for new trainers and also for all other trainers because it took long time from the last workshop.

3. Making model lesson plans

As mentioned above, 10 TTC trainers made the draft lesson plans by themselves. The project faced the difficulty that is the disconnection of the lesson objectives between textbook and teacher's guide. Previously, we had already agreed with the project policy, which the project can change the activities from the textbook to make the lesson easy to understand for students. Therefore, the trainers made some adjustment of the lesson objectives and students' activities.

Finally, 10 lesson plans were completed but the quality of all lesson plans was not the same. It means that some lesson plans are getting better than the previous ones. However, some lesson plans do not yet meet the level of ITSME lessons; those do not show the clear objectives.

In the next workshop, we would like to refurbish those lesson plans.
