Second workshop was held at Kammouane PES in Thakhek from 2nd to 6th July. This workshop consisted of revising lesson plans and planning TOT that will be held in September.

1. Explanation of project outline for trainers

First day of the workshop, Deputy Director General, Department of Teacher Education and JICA Educational Policy Advisor attended the program. They explained the outline and the objectives of the project after Mid-term review.

2. Revision model lesson plans

Draft version of model lesson plans, which were made at the last workshop, were revised again. Some trainers made improvised materials for an experiment and drew pictures and diagrams to explain the lesson topic. Since they made broader changes, the completion of the lesson plans are postponed until the next workshop.

3. Interim presentation of model lesson plans

After revising model lesson plan interim presentation was held. All participants discussed their lesson plans. They held active discussions, for example, there were a lot of remarks about the definitions of the terms appeared in the textbooks. So, it took much more than one hour that is scheduled for each topic. This discussion occupied most part of the whole workshop. Especially, the lesson objectives were discussed thoroughly to set a clear image of students' performance. Expected reactions from the students such as the difference of the performance between urban students and rural students were also considered.

4. Planning for coming TOTs

Detailed plan for TOTs was made. In the plan the leaders for each province, the program, venue and number of participant schools are included. Each TOT has a feedback session on the same day and try to reflect the improvements to the next day's TOT.
