Conducting Mid-term Review

Mid-term review of the Project was conducted from 9th to 26th December, 2012. The Joint Review team consisted of 4 Japanese members headed by Dr. Yusuke TADA, JICA Senior Adviser and 5 Lao members headed by Dr. Khamphay THAMMAVONG, Deputy Director General of Department of Livestock and Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. The mid-term review was conducted based on 5 evaluation criteria by carrying out field surveys in 8 target clusters and holding series of discussions with relevant parties. Finally, following 6 points were recommended to the Project.

  1. Restructuring of Project Management System with focus on local initiative
  2. Enhancement of Local Development Capacity
  3. Improvement of reporting system
  4. Cluster Development rather than Village Development
  5. Prioritizing Development of Core Farmers and TSC
  6. Packaging of Appropriate Technologies

The Project has to improve the activities based on the recommendations as soon as possible in order for the activities to more effectively contribute to livelihood improvement of the villagers.
