The Provincial Assessor Training (Output 1)

The provincial assessor training, led by the Department of Healthcare and Rehabilitation and the central team, was conducted in October to ensure that staff of Provincial Health Office and Provincial Hospital of four southern provinces who serve as assessors for hospital assessment based on the 5G1S standards are knowledgeable and competent to conduct the on-site assessment in healthcare facilities.

After these trainings, each province composed a provincial team of certified trainees, and they conducted the self-assessment of Provincial Hospital using 5G1S standards to deepen their understanding of assessment methods. Afterwards, external assessments of all Provincial and District Hospitals in the four provinces were conducted from November through January.

Review meetings of the results of the external assessment using 5G1S standards of health facilities in each province (Output 1)

Staff from the provincial level (provincial health offices and provincial hospitals) and all district levels (district health offices and district hospitals) participated in a meeting to review the results of the external assessment using the 5 Good 1 Satisfaction Standards for health facilities (5G1S standards) of provincial and district hospitals.

During this meeting, the participants deepened their understanding of the status of each health facility according to 5G1S standards. The review meeting was not only reporting of the result of assessments, but it was a good opportunity for each district to learn their improvement activities mutually. The district that has passed the standard and achieved the goal can give advice to the other districts that have not passed the standard. Through this discussion they gained some ideas to improve the quality of healthcare services for their facilities. Regarding quality improvement based on the results, it was also discussed that the standards that do not require a budget should be improved as soon as possible, while those that do require a budget should be considered for gradual improvement. In addition, it was decided to review the committee that will play a central role in promoting quality improvement activities. A plan will be developed to promote more detailed quality improvement activities through this committee.
