Workshop on Patient Safety including Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) (Output 1)

Two short-term experts in patient safety and IPC conducted workshops in each of the four southern provinces for provincial level staff (both provincial health offices and provincial hospitals) to deepen their understanding of patient safety, including IPC. They introduced that patient safety has a limit to what can be done only with individual attention, and that it is necessary to address patient safety by building a multi-layered system to prevent negligence so that individual negligence does not lead to patient harm. It was agreed to establish a committee in each province to facilitate the activities related to patient safety. The project will follow up on the establishment of these committees and support patient safety activities, including IPC, as part of quality improvement activities.
