The 6th MA-SHEP Technical Committee (TC) Meeting and 3rd MA-SHEP Joint Coordinating Committee (JCC) Meeting Held

The 6th MA-SHEP Technical Committee (TC) Meeting and the 3rd MA-SHEP Joint Coordinating Committee (JCC) Meeting were held in Lilongwe on 25th September and 9th October 2018, respectively.

First, at the 6th TC Meeting, MA-SHEP reported the progress of the project activities in the 1st quarter of Malawi Fiscal Year 2018/2019 (from July to September, 2018) and the plan of project activities in the next quarter. We also reviewed the Project Design Matrix (PDM), the Plan of Operation (PO) as well as the Annual Plan of Operation (PO) for smooth implementation of the project activities.

At the 3rd JCC Meeting held after the TC Meeting, MA-SHEP reported the progress of the project activities (from April to September, 2018) and the plan of project activities (from October, 2018 to March, 2019). Based on the project report, the JCC members approved the revision of PDM, PO and Annual PO. Furthermore, the JCC members approved Karonga ADD and Mzuzu ADD as the 2nd Batch target areas based on the scoring results of submitted proposals from 6 ADDs.

Mr. Manwa, the Deputy Director of Agricultural Planning Services, who chaired the JCC meeting mentioned that "I found that there are no handouts for farmers in this project, while so many other projects distribute handouts. This project really empowers farmers' capacity. MA-SHEP can be a good model of Malawi."
