MA-SHEP Sensitization Workshops for extension staff and farmer group representatives were carried out in the 2nd Batch target areas

During the period of 29th to 31st January 2019, District MA-SHEP Management Team of 6 District Agriculture Offices (DAOs) in the 2nd Batch target areas implemented the "MA-SHEP Sensitization Workshop" for extension staff and farmer group representatives. The District MA-SHEP Management Team in each DAO selected 5 target farmer groups to implement MA-SHEP Package based on the "Group Selection Criteria" after the Organizers' Training conducted in the middle of January. Two farmer group representatives (1 male and 1 female) from the selected target farmer groups, Agriculture Extension Development Officers (AEDOs) who are in charge of the groups, and Agriculture Extension Development Coordinators (AEDCs) from Extension Planning Areas (EPAs) where the groups are located were invited to the workshop to learn the concept of the SHEP Approach, the outline and progress of the Project, and the roles and responsibilities associated with implementing the MA-SHEP Package.

In this workshop, members of the District MA-SHEP Management Teams facilitated all sessions, such as moderation and presentation. The Programme Manager of Karonga Agriculture Development Division (ADD) who participated in the workshop held in Chitipa DAO encouraged the participants by saying that "MA-SHEP has done a wonderful effort to teach farming as a business to Malawi farmers. Like other regions, let us (staff members) work hard together for farmers in Karonga!".
