On 8th September, 2019, Mr. Jericho Chihana, an extension worker of Chikwawa district came back to Malawi after successfully completed the 5 months Knowledge Co-Creation Programme of "Market-oriented Agriculture Promotion for Extension Officer in Africa" in JICA Tsukuba.

On 11th September, Mr. Chihana had a debriefing session at the Department of Agriculture Extension Services (DAES) as well as JICA Malawi office. He confidently presented what he had learnt from the course, especially for the SHEP Approach consisting of a series of activities and vegetable cultivation techniques such as compost making and application, nursery media making, seedling raising, grafting and mulching that would be introduced to the farmers soon. During the presentation, Mr. Chihana stated "I am quite confident that with knowledge and skills acquired through the training course, especially by linking farmers to available markets, will shortly be shared to farmers and other extension workers in order to increase farmer's income and to improve their livelihoods."

MA-SHEP team is expecting that he is going to share what he learnt in the course to farmer groups and extension workers, leading to project outcomes.
