MA-SHEP conducted Sensitization Meeting for ADD Officers, & Sensitization Workshop for District Officers

MA-SHEP activities have started in the 3rd Batch target areas!

On 17th and 18th October, 2019, MA-SHEP conducted "Sensitization Meeting for the Programme Manager & Officers from Blantyre & Shire Valley Agricultural Development Divisions (ADDs)".

The purpose of this Sensitization Meeting is to sensitize ADD Officers on outline of MA-SHEP to confirm their roles and responsibilities and to discuss on the selection process of target districts.

The following day on the 18th of October, "1-Day Sensitization Workshop of the SHEP Approach and MA-SHEP Activities for District Agriculture Development Officers (DADOs) & District Subject Matter Specialists (SMSs)" were conducted separately. Each DADO is required to submit a district proposal to the ADD and MA-SHEP Offices in order to present their commitments and motivation towards the MA-SHEP activities implementation, resource availability and mobilization, geographical conditions and socio-economic considerations in their districts. MA-SHEP will select 6 out of 9 districts by scoring the proposal submitted from DADOs.

At the end of the workshop, Mr. Taurayi Francis Mlewah, the Programme Manager of Shire Valley ADD, inspired the district officers by saying, "We have been waiting for 2 years for MA-SHEP to come to our districts. As we learnt today, we will start the MA-SHEP activity soon. We have to ensure that the SHEP Approach is delivered to all the farmers who are waiting for our support. We are the one who implement the SHEP Approach. Let us be active!"
