Coastal water quality monitoring network project was initiated in January, 2007. Main event and activity is shown below.

[1].The third Playas Limpias Conference
The third Playas Limpias Conference was held in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, and project team leader had the chance to present related project activities in the program.

[2].Case Study on Marine Pollution and Coastal Water Quality Monitoring
At the time of initiation of the actual project activities, presentation on the case study on marine pollution and coastal water quality monitoring conducted in Japan.

[3].Technology Transfer on Saline Water/Sediment Sampling
Training on sampling technology of saline water /sediment necessary for the coastal water quality monitoring was conducted targeting C/P of Basin Organization of Northern Gulf and National Reference Laboratory.

[4].Technology Transfer on Analytical Methods for Basic Parameters
Training on analytical methods for basic parameters of saline water and sediment was conducted targeting C/P of Basin Organization of Northern Gulf and National Reference Laboratory.

[5].Technology Transfer on Coastal Water Quality Monitoring Guideline
Technology transfer on coastal water quality monitoring guideline was conducted targeting C/P of Basin Organization of Northern Gulf and National Reference Laboratory.

[6].Capacity Development on QA/QC System of Saline Water/Sediment Analysis
Lecture on basic items regarding QA/QC system and technology transfer on producing reference materials (RMs) was implemented.

[7].Implementation of Countrywide Training
Countrywide training on sampling and analytical methods of saline water and sediment was conducted targeting C/P from CONAGUA’s local laboratory.

[8].Holding Seminar
A seminar titled outcomes of the project was held targeting CONAGUA and other related institution, and the project activities were disseminated to many attendants through the vigorous discussion.

[9].Technical Guidance on Coastal Water Quality Monitoring in IMATA

At the time of initiation of the activities regarding third fiscal year of the project, presentation on the monitoring technology on coastal water quality monitoring conducted in Japan was held in IMTA (Mexican Institute of Water Technology, Mexico) on 23rd May, 2008.

[10].Workshop for Coastal Water Monitoring Guideline
Technology transfer on newly established “Coastal Water Monitoring Guideline” was conducted in the workshop held in TV conference on 27th May, 2008.

[11].Technology Transfer on the Analytical Skill for Toxic Parameters regarding Seawater and Sediment
The technology transfer on the analytical methods of toxic parameters started in May, 2008.

[12].Implementation of the Proficiency Tests
The proficiency tests were implemented in order to confirm the current accuracy of saline water and sediment analysis results in July, 2008.

[13].Collaboration with the Mid-term Evaluation Mission Team
The mid-term evaluation mission team arrived Mexico in July, 2008. The Project Team Members collaborated with their activities by submitting the questionnaire documents and participating in their interview survey.

[14].Training Implementation in Japan
Training in Japan was implemented for three (3) Counterparts during a 3 week program in September 2008.

[15].Holding the 4th Joint Coordination Committee Meeting
Holding the 4th JCC Meeting with JICA Mexico office, JICA Experts, CONAGUA, and related institutions´ personnel was taken place in Altamira city on October 28th, 2008.

[16].Technological Transfer of Analytical Skill for Toxic Parameters regarding Seawater and Sediment (2)
Technology transfers were executed to analysts of 10 local laboratories in the National Reference Laboratory on November, 2008.

[17].Participation in the forum
JICA Expert introduced a water quality management technology presentation in the State of Mexico sponsored forum on November 28th, 2008.

[18].Holding the 2nd Seminar
The 2nd Seminar was held on February 13th, 2009, where the activity report was presented by JICA Expert.

[19].Holding the 5th Joint Coordination Committee Meeting
Holding the 5th JCC Meeting with JICA Mexico office, JICA Experts, CONAGUA, and related institutions was taken place in Mexico City on March 2nd, 2009.

[20].Technological Transfer of Analytical Skills for Toxic Parameters regarding Seawater and Sediment
Training on analytical methods for basic parameters was conducted to a total of 42 persons from Local Laboratory staff and 5 persons from Navy staff.

[21].Implementation of sampling activities for coastal area with the Ministry of Marine
JICA expert team and Northern Gulf Basin Organization laboratory staff executed the sampling on coastal area with Ministry of Marine in Tampico city. The sampling was implemented in the navy vessel. The collected sample was used for training of basic parameters on July, 2009.

Training on analytical methods for basic parameters was conducted to a total of 42 persons from Local Laboratory staff and 5 persons from Navy staff.

[23].Collaboration with the Final Evaluation Team
The Final evaluation team arrived Mexico in July, 2009. The Project Team Members collaborated with their activities by submitting the questionnaire documents and participating in their interview survey.
