Conducted Workshops to enhance the quality of education at special schools

JICA Project Team conducted workshops to enhance the quality of education at Special Schools No. 25, 55, 63, and 70 in Ulaanbaatar from September 8 - 11, 2015.

Project experts (Professor Otomo and Mr. Nemoto) who have many years of experience in education for children with disabilities, delivered lectures on Special Needs Education in Japan including how to develop Individual Educational Plan (IEP).

Video was used to show the lessons learned at schools for Special Needs Education in Japan. Mongolian teachers noticed some differences between the lessons learned in Japan and in Mongolia. One participant said, "Japanese teachers focus more on life skills and conduct activities to promote independence, while Mongolian teachers stress the importance of subject studies". They also raised some questions such as "What is the significance of establishing a special class for children with autism?" and "How should we teach children with severe intellectual disability?"

Project Team will support those special schools in improving the education for children with disabilities in Mongolia.
