Seminar to share learning of Training in Japan

In Ulaanbaatar, on December 15, 2015, a seminar to share learning of Training in Japan was held for 10 participants of the training course named "Planning the lessons for children with disabilities in the context of special needs education" and 3 participants of "Promotion of Inclusive Education / Special Needs Education". In addition, 30 people from concerned organizations attended.

Prior to presentations by the participants, Mr. D. Amarsaikhan (Director of Department of Population Policy Implementation and Coordination, Ministry of Population Development and Social Protection) introduced the training program and shared what he had learned from the program. "I learned that disability is not caused by an individual, but it is caused by the society". Other participants' presentations were: "Social Model of Disability", "Importance of Early Detection and Developmental Support", "Types of Disability and their Characteristics" and "Education for Children with Disabilities".

The participants of the training course named "Promotion of Inclusive Education / Special Needs Education" shared some examples of Inclusive Education in Osaka, and system and practices of social participation of persons with disabilities in Japan. They concluded their presentation by saying, "we have to reconsider significance of education when we talk about Inclusive Education" and "everybody has wonderful capabilities and must participate in the society by utilizing them."

The expert of Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, Mr. U. Ganbold closed the seminar and said that they would like to collaborate closely with concerned organizations to solve problems which children with disabilities were facing.

The participants of training in Japan were able to solidify their understanding of necessity of developmental support for children with disabilities, as well as a way to establish Inclusive Education by utilizing existing special schools in Mongolia. Their learning in Japan is expected to be utilized in Mongolia in cooperation with related organizations.
