Mongolian Participants Comments on 2nd Training in Japan

From January 10th to 27th 2017, the 2nd training of Mongolian participants in Japan was conducted under the title of "Early Detection, Developmental Support and Education for Children with Disabilities (CWDs)". 16 participants from Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports, special schools, Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, Commission of Health, Education and Social Protection for Children with Disabilities and its local commission in Bayangol district and Khuvsgul Aimag (Province) were invited to visit Japan.

During the training, the participants learned about the efforts of Japanese local governments for the early detection and developmental support, screening/assessment tools and education for CWDs. They visited related organizations in Nasushiobara City and Nerima district, Tokyo Gakugei University, a regular elementary school in Bunkyo district, schools for Special Needs Education in Saitama prefecture, etc. They also visited workplaces of Special Needs School's graduates and their musical club to learn their life after the graduation.

The participants were impressed by the support system for CWDs and PWDs in Japan. They considered how to improve it in Mongolia and got some concrete ideas.

The following are some comments by participants:

  • I was surprised to learn that PWDs in Japan could get relevant support throughout their life. I realized that cooperation and collaboration among related organizations were very important.
  • After I go back to Mongolia, I would like to conduct training for the local commissions to increase cooperation in health, education and social welfare sector.
  • I would like to deliver useful information on the early detection and developmental support to parents with CWDs and provide them with appropriate assistance.
  • I will share my experiences in Japan with teachers in special schools and also pilot regular schools. I would like to conduct joint activities and learning with regular schools, to enhance students’ dairy life skill and to conduct a tracer study of our graduates.
  • There are various supports for PWDs to promote their independence in Japan. I think vocational training in Mongolia should be improved with them.

Thanks to a great deal of hospitality shown by the lecturers and organizations welcoming the participants, the training was completed meaningfully.
