Held training for Officers in charge of inclusive education

On March 12 and 19, 2021, training for Officers in charge of inclusive education from Education Division of 9 districts in Ulaanbaatar was held in cooperation with Ministry of Education and Science. In addition to the Officers in charge of inclusive education, more than 50 people also participated in this training including person in charge of education in Sub Commissions of Health, Education and Social Protection for children with disabilities (CWD), personnel of Metropolitan Education Department and staff of Rehabilitation Development Center for CWD.

In Education Division, 5-6 officers have been assigned and in charge of preschool education, primary education, curriculum education, non-formal education and statistics respectively. One of them was designated as Officer in charge of inclusive education in 2020. The training was conducted aiming at explaining expected roles of Officer in charge of inclusive education, that is still new, future collaborative activities with the Project and concept of inclusive education. On the first day of training, roles and activities of Officer in charge of inclusive education, international trends of inclusive education and case study of various countries were introduced. On the second day, after introduction of related Mongolian laws and support system of school enrollment, participants discussed in groups about how they can support children with disabilities upon school admission.

In the post-training questionnaire, the participants said "Topics of the training were very important. I want to apply what we learnt this time." "I understand that it is effective to cooperate with school staff, students, and parents, not just with Education Division of district, to improve inclusive education."

This training was the first online training conducted by the Project. In the midst of COVID-19 pandemic, we will continue activities with people in Mongolia by using online tools.
