Making lecture videos for teacher training

In order for children with disabilities to have an enjoyable and meaningful school life in their local area, it is very important for school staff to have knowledge about inclusive education and for teachers to have appropriate teaching skills. Institute of Teacher's Professional Development (ITPD) and Mongolian Institute of Educational Research (MIER), which are governmental educational institutions, are the project counterparts to support the improvement of teacher training.

Due to the spread of COVID-19, ITPD is promoting online teacher training. The project has also been working on creating lecture videos that can be used online since August 2021. A total of eight videos have been created covering inclusive education, including ones on legal systems of inclusive education as well as reasonable accommodations which school managers, school social workers and classroom teachers need to know, and support for students from their school enrollment to social participation after graduation.

It has been decided that these videos will be parts of an elective course in the basic subjects of the ITPD annual training program (for 1st year, 5th year, and 10th year teachers) from January 2022. In the future, we also plan to create videos on teaching methods in mainstream classrooms and basic knowledge about disabilities to make the teacher training program more practical to many teachers.
