DPUB2 Newsletter June 2023

1. Meeting for preparing job coach lecture content

Photo

The first batch of job coach trainers had a meeting on June 7, 2023, for final confirmation of the content of the lectures in the meeting room of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection (MLSP). They discussed the program of the "2nd Job Coach Training" and the content of each lecture.
Based on the reflections from the 1st Job Coach Training, the trainers were actively discussing about more appropriate method to proceed with the role-plays and the trainers’ facilitations, which were very encouraging to see. In the future, DPUB2 will also train the second batch of job coach trainers and finalize the job coach training program for rural areas in Mongolia. DPUB2 will continue to work closely with MLSP and the General Authority for Development of Persons with Disabilities to promote the training of job coaches/trainers who are responsible for the employment and retention of persons with disabilities.

The second job coach training was conducted. It was conducted face-to-face for 4 days between June 12 and 15, 2023.
Every morning, the trainers check on the absentees and the flow of the day's role plays. During the training, when a course correction is needed, the supervising trainer calls on all trainers and gives instructions to them in the corner of the meeting venue. At the end of each day's training, they review and confirm the characteristics of the participants, points for improvement, and how to proceed following days. In this way, the trainers hold numerous meetings during the four-day job coach training.
The training was a combination of lectures and role plays on the five important pillars of support by job coaches "Assessment of People with Disabilities," "Finding Workplace," "Workplace Assessment and Job Restructuring", "Teaching Techniques-Systematic Instruction" and "Formation of Natural Support". What we have consistently told participants is that it is important for job coaches to "think from the other person's point of view.”
The standpoint of the person with disabilities, the standpoint of the company, the standpoint of the family, and the standpoint of the support organization. We hope that everyone who has completed the training will be able to understand each position and become active as job coaches in the future.
