"Project for Expansion of New Curriculum of Teacher Training Institute (IFP) in Mozambique"

From 22 August to 12 September 2016, the Baseline Survey (BLS) field visit was conducted. BLS team which consisted of two technicians from Ministry of Education and Human Development (MINEDH), two Japanese experts and two research assistants, visited 13 Teacher Training Institute (IFP) in 6 provinces. And they conducted tests, questionnaires and interviews for trainers and trainees of IFPs. The survey covered approximately 70 trainers and 2,500 trainees.

The interview clarified the challenges faced by trainers and trainees of IFPs on materials and learning environment and motivation of trainees to apply to IFP and to learning.

On 14 September, BLS team held the workshop for analysis of the results from the interviews. At the workshop, team members categorised the issues and discussed remedial measures. Through the workshop, team members realized the need to work on developing capacity of trainers of IFPs and establishing an environment in which textbooks that PENCIFOP will develop can be fully utilized.

The findings and results of the tests and questionnaire will be shared with the stakeholders.
