"Module of Mathematics I" was completed
"Project for Expansion of New Curriculum of Teacher Training Institute (IFP) in Mozambique"

January 2017

"Module of Mathematics I", which had been developed since April 2016 with the support of Japanese experts, was completed. The textbook aims to foster IFP students' subject matter knowledge, especially in algebra field. It will be used in lessons for 1st year students.

The three selected IFPs (pilot IFPs) will start the lessons with "Module of Mathematics I" from February 2017. The Project will implement teacher training for "Module of Mathematics I" in early February, inviting directors and Mathematics teachers of the selected IFPs and technicians of three Provincial Directorates of Education and Human Development, to which the pilot IFPs belong.

Although the "Module of Mathematics I" was completed, the Project members are still fully engaged in various activities, such as preparation for the training, editing "Module of Mathematics II", development of "Module of Mathematics Teaching Methods", etc. One of the most difficult tasks was to develop "Module of Mathematics Teaching Methods", by which the IFP students will learn how to teach mathematics in primary school. Although the development of the textbook is challenging for Mathematic teams, they already made the draft of one chapter (Fraction) and they will continue to develop all chapters with Japanese experts.
