ProNUT participate in the first provincial MENU planning and coordination meeting! (30th November, 2021)

The Technical Secretariat of Food Security and Nutrition (SETSAN), in collaboration with JICA, organized the first MENU planning and coordination meeting on 30th November 2021. The conference aims to promote a multi-sectoral approach for nutrition improvement.

For nutrition improvement, a multi-sectoral approach is crucial. It is expected to contribute significantly to improving the nutritional status of people, not only through support from the medical and health sectors, but also gricultural, water, and sanitation sectors.

In Mozambique, the MENU program is aimed at a multi-sectoral approach. MENU is the abbreviation of "Multi-sectoral Enhancement for Nutrition Upgrading." This program is implemented jointly by the Mozambican Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources, and JICA.

It is a program to promote multi-sectoral collaboration among these three ministries for nutrition improvement in Niassa Province.

Representatives from the Ministry of Agreculture, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources attended the meeting. Then three ongoing JICA projects in Niassa province made presentations on the project concepts and their progress. It was a good opportunity to learn about activities in other ministries for eachothers.

ProNUT presented that it is in charge of strengthening the capacity of health care workers through the development and dissemination of maternal and child health handbooks (MCH hand books), and we expects to collaborations among MENU members.
