On 12th August 2022, the 2nd JCC of the Project for Strengthening Maternal and Child Nutrition Services (ProNUT) was successfully organized!

It is a technical cooperation project between JICA and Ministry of Health aiming to improve Mozambique's maternal and child nutrition status targeting in Gaza and Niassa provinces. The ProNUT is currently developing a pilot version of the maternal and child health handbook (MCH handbook) that fits into Mozambique's context for promoting a continuum of care, and will then organize capacity building activities for health workers and community health workers (called APE in Mozambique) to utilize the MCH handbook in their services provision at health facilities and communities.

In total of 37 participants attended physically and online, including the Deputy National Director, Department heads of Nutrition, and Family health, representative of National APE Program of Public Health Directorate, Provincial and District Health Department Directors from the target provinces of Gaza and Niassa, Embassy of Japan in Mozambique, and Development Partners.

At the JCC, the progress of 1st year project activity was presented and the annual plan of the 2nd year were agreed among JCC members. It was great opportunity to connect all parties and have a valued discussions on upcoming activities, such as MCH handbook development, implementation methods and trainings.

Strengthening the ability of health workers and APEs utilizing MCH handbook in each province is the key for achieving the project purpose in the second year of ProNUT activities.
