Preliminary Study for Pilot Research Program started

Several research groups under the Pilot Research Program of the project conducted preliminary studies. The members of research groups supported by regional office of the Department of Agriculture and/or graduates of YAU at Townships visited villages to collect information and to select target farmers and areas.

Following preliminary studies were conducted in May.

1) 10-11/May

Observation of mango orchards and interview with the farmers, and visit to Technology Transfer Center for mango in Sint Gaing and Myittha Townships, Mandalay (RC-02)

2) 23-26/May

Study on the current situation of postharvest of sesame in the Magway area (RC-01)

3) 26-27/May

Observation and Interview regarding local rice varieties in salinity affected areas in Myittha and Thaizi Townships, Mandalay (RA-01)

4) 30-31/May

Preliminary interview to the target farmers in Nay Pyi Taw Councile (RB-01)
