Short Training for Community Forestry

February 2 to 8, 2012

During February, short training for Community Forestry (CF) was held twice for frontline staff of Forest Department (FD). In Myaung Mya District, trainees from Laputta township office and Myaung Mya district office attended the first training from 2nd to 4th February, 2012. The second training was conducted from 6th to 8th February, 2012 for FD staffs from Bogalay and Pya Pon townships.

The 3 trainers came from Central Forestry Development and Training Centre (CFDTC) Subcentre of FD in Mandalay and in total 17 trainees (2 staff from Myaung Mya district, 15 staff from Laputta, Bogalay and Pya Pon townships) participated in the training.

In the training firstly, , background and outline of CF were explained. Trainers also lectured about Forest Law, Community Forestry Instruction (CFI) and roles/ responsibility of FD staff for CF activities. Nextly, procedures of PRA、preparation and submission of CF management plan were explained. The training covered about necessary capacity of FD frontline staff in relation to CF. At the final day of each training, summary of the training as well as t draft SOP (Standardized Operational Procedure) prepared in the project were discussed among participants.

The trainings have provided good opportunities for trainees to improve their capacity for CF.
