International symposium on "Global Expansion of Smart Water Treatment System for Sustainable Water Management" is held on December 5, 2015 in Kathmandu. The symposium is organised by University of Yamanashi, the University of Tokyo and Hokkaido University, Japan, co-organised by Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand and Tribhuvan University, Nepal, and supported by Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The main objective is to disseminate the outcomes and share experiences from three SATREPS projects that are on water reuse and recycle in tropical regions, sustainable water and sanitation system in Africa and reliable supply of safe portable water in the Kathmandu Valley for realizing locally-fitted, compact and decentralized water treatment and management technologies in Asia and Africa.
