Sampling and processing from hospital wastewater and LCD treatment plants

Ms. Sarmila Tandukar and Mr. Ocean Thakali, who belong to Working Group 3 of Uni. of Yamanashi, stayed in Kathmandu from 13/2/2019 to 2/3/2019. During their stay, they collected wastewater samples from seven different hospitals and water from four different LCDs that have been installed in four different locations in the Kathmandu Valley. All the collected water samples were transported to the Public health Research Laboratory, IOM, Kathmandu where microbiological analysis was performed to know the presence of faecal indicator bacteria and protozoa. The water samples were also filtered for the detection of pathogenic viruses. Concentrated water was transported to Japan for further molecular analysis.
