Training participants were able to present prevailing flood control problems in their areas. Resource speakers and even co-participants were able to provide valuable suggestions and recommendations to address such problems. Participants of the planning and design training visited and were briefed on the various facilities and activities in the FCSEC Hydraulic Laboratory Building on July 11, 2007.

A video clip on the Ormoc City Tragedy and succeeding restoration works under the Grant-Aid Program of the Government of Japan were also shown during the training courses to emphasize the important roles of the participants in ensuring the prevention of disasters in their communities. Two (2) engineers from the Department of Finance-Municipal Development Fund Office observed the maintenance training, as their office which is implementing the $60 Million Word Bank funded Local Government Finance and Development Project (LOGOFIND) would like to learn more about the sustainability and maintenance aspects of river protection and seawalls.

The next batch of the above training courses is scheduled in November this year with participants coming from DPWH Regions 13 and 11
