The 4th Joint Coordinating Committee Meeting, chaired by Ms. Cabral, Assistant Secretary of DPWH, was held on June 26th. The attendants were Mr. N. Matsuda, Resident Representative of JICA Philippine Office, Mr. H. Yoshino,
Secretary of Japanese Embassy and the thirty others.
Although the 3rd Meeting was held in February, the 4th Meeting took place because JCC Meeting chairperson was replaced and the new JICA chief advisor took charge following the predecessor’s return to Japan.
At the meeting counterparts reported on the following subjects: the completion of building bank in Kinanliman River Pilot Project in June; training of flood control and sabo for DPWH personnel; the progress of joint research with the universities in Hydraulic Laboratory; explanation of the feasibility studies for selected principal river basins by DPWH. Moreover, the participants animatedly exchanged views on the future direction of the project. There was, for example, an opinion that it is important to study the framework to carry out the technical support based on financing by JBIC (Japan Bank for International Cooperation) in prospect of unifying JICA and JBIC.
