Ms. Totsuka is scheduled to work at FCSEC as a short-term expert from the middle of June, 2009 to the middle of December, 2009.

Her technical guidance mainly covers the fields of the flood runoff analysis and the river hydraulic analysis. Master planning and feasibility studies for 12 river basins are being conducted by DPWH with engineering consulting services of national consulting firms. Her activities are expected to contribute to the enhancement of flood control planning knowledge of FCSEC staff, who should supervise the local consultants’ work. Her technical guidance includes various combinations of lectures, practical lessons, on-the-job trainings, preliminary studies of M/P and F/Ss, the improvement of existing technical manuals, and other activities.

She also provided a lecture on flood control planning at the “Training on Planning and Design of Flood Control Structures” held by FCSEC late in August, 2009 for DPWH local officials in Regions VII and XII.
