Community mobilization and health education is a vital factor for any health related activity in the district. The DHMT emphasizes that the formation and activation of health committees is very important because health committees form the link between PHUs and the community. The reality, however, is that most of the health committees are not functioning and the need to address the issue is stressed. The suggestion for organizing workshops for those concerned came about and thus, with the support of JICA Expert, the workshops were designed and conducted. The main purpose of the workshops was to create a platform for the DHMT, PHU In-charges, chiefs and health committee members through sharing the common ground for the improvement and strengthening of the relationship between PHUs and health committees. Through this means, the roles and responsibilities of both the PHUs and health committees would be clarified. Health committees are also formed to identify and share the good practices/difficulties within the community and to come up with action plans for the future.
