Conducting Baseline Survey in the Project Site

From 17th to 18th August, the project team visited the project site, Malamulele, Vhembe district, Limpopo province and conducted the baseline survey.

The survey was composed of questionnaire, interview, focus group discussion and home visit. Through interviews and discussions, the difficulties which persons with disabilities are facing such as dependency on disability grant, limited opportunity for education and employment, discriminated experiences were reported. Through home visits, the living conditions of persons with disabilities, for example some of their houses have no electricity and the roads in the community is too bumpy for wheelchair users to move around, were revealed.

The project team will continue the baseline survey, analyse the situations and the needs of persons with disabilities and reflect them in future project activities.
