Vitalize community activities by utilizing the learnings from Training in Japan!

On 16th February 2017, the project team visited Mr. Judas Mayevu's village. Mr. Judas is a project working group member in Limpopo and represents persons with disabilities in community.

He participated in the training in Japan namely "Development of Leadership and Networking of Persons with Disabilities" from 28th September to 16th November 2016. After coming back from Japan, he has started a number of activities with persons with disabilities in his village.

On 17th February 2017, He introduced the abuse prevention activities for persons with disabilities in Japan to 20 people including persons with disabilities and supporters in his village.

Through sharing of learnings from Japan, Mr. Judas and persons with disabilities in his village have strengthened the Self-Help Group (SHG) and started to meet at the community centre to discuss how to improve lives of persons with disabilities in the village. They also commenced income generating activities such as beads making and leather crafting.

In order to empower persons with disabilities and strengthen SHG, the Project plans to conduct Peer Counselling targeting Mr. Judas and other persons with disabilities in his village.
