On 9th and 10th May 2017, the project team conducted the 2nd peer counselling in 2 villages in Limpopo province where Mr. Judas Mayevu and Ms. Victoria Japane initiated to establish Self-Help Groups (SHG) of persons with disabilities. Same as last, Mr. July Mathebula, a peer counsellor and a wheelchair user facilitated the peer counselling. 35 persons with disabilities from Xityisa village where Mr Judas lives and 16 persons with disabilities from Makahlule village where Ms Victoria lives participated in the peer counselling.

Participants were consisted of core members of the self-help group of persons with disabilities in the village who participated in the 1st peer counselling conducted in March 2017 and the new members who were identified through home visits by the self-help group.

In Xityisa village, peer counselling was conducted under the big tree since there was no spacious venue found in the village. A participant said that she was encouraged by listening to Mr July and other participants' story and felt she was not alone.

The Project will continue to support self-help group activities in the villages and promote empowerment of persons with disabilities.
