Peer counselling was conducted in Phaphazela villages in Limpopo province

On 28th June 2017, the Project conducted the peer counselling in Phaphazela villages in Limpopo province where Mr Ronald, a wheelchair user who is a member of the working group lives. Same as the previous ones, Mr July Mathebula, a peer counsellor and a wheelchair user facilitated the peer counselling and 20 persons with disabilities participated.

The project team visited Phaphazela village in May 2017 to inform the project outline and activities of community leaders, councillors and pastors in order to conduct the peer counselling. Due to the involvement of stakeholders in the village, the selection of participants and venue went smoothly. However, two sign language interpreters who were supposed to come cancelled on the day of the peer counselling and it made Deaf persons not be able to participate in it.

The Project will visit Phaphazela village again and conduct the peer counselling to persons with disabilities including Deaf persons.
