Outline of the Project

1)Project Title:

Project for Strengthening the Water Service Management of Pyanj and Khamadoni Vodokanals

2) Scheme

Technical Cooperation

3) Project Budget:

410 million Japanese Yen (approximately 3.6 mln. USD as of December 2017).

4) Project Duration:

April 22, 2017 - April 30, 2020

5) Target Area:

Water Service Area of Vodokanals of Pyanj and Khamadoni districts of Khatlon region

6) Counterpart Agency:

  • State Unitary Enterprise, "Khojagii Manziliyu-Kommunali" (KMK);
  • State Affiliated Enterprise on Water supply and Sewerage of Pyanj District (Pyanj VK) and Khamadoni District (Hamadoni VK).

7) Project Objective:

The objective of the Project is to strengthen the capacities of Vodokanals of Pyanj and Khamadoni district for water service management.

8) Project Scope / Activities:

  • Introduction of volumetric tariff system;
  • Improvement of the capacities of Vodokanals on water service management;
  • Conducting trainings on job and out of the country;
  • Improvement the capacity of Vodokanal staff on operation and maintenance of water supply facility.

9) Expected Results:

  • Data necessary for water service management is available;
  • The capacity of water service management is developed;
  • [The target is Pyanj VK] Volumetric tariff system based on meter reading is stably operated;
  • [The target is Khamadoni VK] Volumetric tariff system based on meter reading is introduced for the selected customers;
  • Water supply facilities are operated and maintained properly.

10) Beneficiaries:

More than 60,000 people

11) Contributing to the NDS 2016-2030:

Ensuring food security and providing better access for the population to quality nutrition (promotion of water reform).

12) Contribution to SDGs:

Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all (SDG - 6).
