The Project has released the Second Edition of the CSS&M Manual and Tools since August 2014.

The first edition of the manual with tools was published in March 2010. Since then some new approaches in HIV prevention have been introduced to Tanzania such as Prevention of Mother to Child Option B+ and Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC).

The government has also developed the Third National Multi-sectoral Strategic Framework for HIV and AIDS (NMSF III) for the period of 2013/14 – 2017/18 and the Health Sector HIV and AIDS Strategic Plan III 2013-2017 (HSHSP III), which align with the new UNAIDS strategic directions with an ambitious vision: Zero New Infections, Zero AIDS-related Deaths and Zero Discrimination.

This second edition accommodated all the new developments in the health sector HIV and AIDS prevention, care and support services in Tanzania. The contents of the document have been also aligned with the Training Package of the Comprehensive Supportive Supervision and Mentoring for HIV and AIDS Health Services developed in 2011.

The process of revising the documents was facilitated by a reviewing team of the National AIDS Control Programme (NACP). National and regional supervisors and mentors and implementing partners were fully involved in the process and therefore the documents are a fruit of the collaborative efforts of many individuals and organizations.

The hard copies of the materials have already been distributed to all regions in the country and all councils in the model regions. The soft copies are downloadable from the NACP Web site.
