Project impresses stakeholders with its achievements (October 2014)

The Project impressed stakeholders with its achievements in comprehensive supportive supervision and mentoring (CSS&M) and data feedback and utilization for improving HIV and AIDS services. The meeting was organized by the National AIDS Control Programme (NACP) and attended by other programs of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (MOHSW), implementing partners (IPs) and development partners (DPs) on 16th October 2014.

The meeting was chaired by the Director of Preventive Services (DPS) of MOHSW, the representative of NACP presented the outline of the Project. The presenter also introduced the concept of CSS&M and described the outputs that the Project achieved.

The Mafia District Medical Officer presented on the district's experience in operationalization of CSS&M and its impact on quality improvement with evidence. The Dodoma Municipal Medical Officer introduced the concept of the data feedback and utilization, developed by the Project. He presented a concrete example of the data feedback and utilization for improving male participation in prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV infection. The Dodoma Regional AIDS Coordinator described other good practices in data feedback and utilization in the region and the role of the regional health management team (RHMT) in horizontal-learning and replication of good practices within the region.

The DPS was astonished with the presenters' strong ownership to the Project activities and appreciated the Project that empowered the local government officers. She promised to disseminate the information on the good practices to wider stakeholders. NACP representatives recognized their responsibility in scaling up the approaches since these are in the National Strategy. They appealed to the IPs and the DPs to support in scaling up the approaches. Two Summary Books on M&E and CSS&M were distributed to the participants for their references.
