Joint Coordinating Committee

The first Joint Coordinating Committee (JCC) meeting for the project took place on the 8th of December 2011. The JCC consists of members from the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (MOHSW), the Prime Minister's Office for Regional Administration and Local Government (PMORALG) and JICA to discuss the strategy and policies of the project implementation. The specific aim of the first JCC meeting was to present to the committee the objectives, approach and the planned activities of the project phase 2 for the discussion. The first JCC meeting had the representation from JICA Tanzania Office, Embassy of Japan in Dar es Salaam, the officials from MOHSW and PMORALG. Furthermore, representatives from the Regional Health Management Teams (RHMT) from Pwani and Dar es Salaam Regions participated in the meeting deliberation in response to the presentation given by the project team. RHMT are the targets of cooperation as well as the important partners of the project and their representation was quite valuable.

In his remark, Mr. Yukihide Katsuta, the Chief Representative of JICA Tanzania Office, expressed his hope that the project will be implemented under the leadership of MOHSW, based on the spirit of partnership and capacity development which is the JICA's philosophy.

In response, Ms. Blandina Nyoni, MOHSW Permanent Secretary and the Chairperson of JCC, thanked the Government of Japan for the support through the project. She further assured that the MOHSW will promise the smooth implementation of the project in order to achieve the objectives of the project.

In continuation from the first phase, the Project commenced its operation with support of the relevant parties, based on a reaffirmed partnership between Tanzania and Japan.
