Vol.1: The Second Phase of "O&OD Project" has commenced

In January 2015, "Strengthening Participatory Planning and Community Development Cycle for Good Local Governance Phase 2" (O&OD Project 2) has commenced. Upon embarking on the new phase, the project has developed a new version of the project brochure:

Under the slogan of Maendeleo Pamoja! (Development Together! in Kiswahili), this phase aims to replicate the achievement of the first phase of the project which ended in October 2014 to a broader areas of Tanzania. Please see the Project Brochure from the links above for more details on the achievements of the project.

The new O&OD team consists of 5 officials of PMO-RALG[1] and 5 JICA experts. In addition to the original members from the previous phase, new members have joined from this phase. The team expects to welcome more members in the near future.

The first task as a team was to conduct trainings for the new Ward Facilitators (WFs) and District Task Force (DTF) members in Hai, Siha and Same Districts in Kilimanjaro Region. The target villages in the previous phase were in Bagamoyo and Kisarawe Districts in Coast Region, Morogoro, Kilombero and Ulanga Districts in Morogoro Region, and Kondoa District in Dodoma Region. Impressed with the achievements seen in these target villages, the three Districts in Kilimanjaro approached the project to start improved O&OD in their LGAs.

It is eight hours drive from Dodoma, where the project office is located, to Kilimanjaro and the O&OD team is travelling back and forth during the training period from March to end of June. In the next project news, we intend to report the details of the trainings.
