The National Science and Technology Fair has been held every year to promote public interest in science and technology and has attracted more than one million visitors. It is the biggest fair of the year in science and technology in Thailand.

This year, the National Science and Technology Fair was held in Chiang Mai from August 12 to 28.

There was a great variety of exhibitions and activities arranged by the public and private, local and international sectors.

At the international pavilion, Japan, the United Kingdom, Germany and China presented impressive exhibits, hosted memorable displays.

JICA also joined in the Japanese pavilion and exhibited "H-FAME production technology"- one of our research outcomes-.

Our key messages for the exhibition were;

1. Affordable and High-quality Bio-diesel fuel production technology has been developed through Thailand-Japan international joint research.
   *This technology is a break-through for the technical barriers of current bio-diesel technology. (Higher blending)
   The quality of bio-diesel produced with this technology (H-FAME) can meet world standard specifications.
2. A 50,000km on-road test using the high quality bio-diesel, H-FAME, was carried out.
   *Material and automotive fuel compatibility of H-FAME are proven via engine-bench and on-road tests.
3. Widespread sharing of H-FAME production technology is coming to ASEAN countries.
   *We will disseminate the production technology developed in the project to ASEAN countries to meet the increasing demands for bio-fuel in the region.
   The diesel truck which we used for the 50,000km on-road driving test was displayed at the JICA booth.

It was a joy to witness more than one million people come to the fair, and those visitors, especially students, got to know the H-FAME high quality bio-diesel technology by reading our JICA exhibition panels and playing a game.

Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Science and Technology, the Deputy Governor of Chiang Mai and other Thai VIPs visited the JICA exhibition.
