The fifth Joint Coordinating Committee (JCC) meeting for the SATREPS Innovation on Production and Automotive Utilization of Biofuels from Non-Food Biomass Project was held at the National Science and Technology Development Agency on the 10th of February 2015. The meeting was chaired by the Project Director, Dr. Paritud Bhandhubanyong and had attendees from Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency, Ministry of Energy (DEDE) and the private sectors:TRI PETCH ISUZU SALES, PTT, Bangchack Petroleum PLC and Thai oil group, as well as Counterparts of the Projects from MTEC, TISTR, KMUTNB.

The JCC aims to monitor and review the overall progress of the Project, take concrete actions for the smooth implementation of the Project, exchange views and ideas on major issues arising during the implementation of the Project, and plan for the next fiscal year.

Progress of the project under the Project Design Matrix (PDM) was reported by both the Japanese and Thai sides. Then, the annual work plan for fiscal year 2015 was discussed.

In the discussion, both Thai and Japanese parties confirmed that they will continue to make efforts to achieve all the expected outcomes of the project.

Also, it was agreed that they will utilize the final year as "a preparation year for Technology Transfer". So they will make efforts to disseminate the developed technologies to neighbouring countries as well as for social utilization/commercialization of the technologies.

Both Thai and Japanese sides expressed their determination to continue efforts to tackle common issues in Thailand and in Asian countries, even though the project is coming to the end of its term.

In the afternoon, the 4th Annual All Researchers Meeting on Innovation on Production and Automotive Utilization of Biofuels from Non-Food Biomass was held. A total 11 young researchers, including a researcher who obtained a PhD degree at Waseda University and came back to Thailand, presented and shared their knowledge and outcomes obtained from their trainings conducted in Japan this fiscal year.
