Visiting the Ministry of Public Health

The JICA Expert, together with the Pollution Control Department (PCD) officer, Mr. Aram Bhandhuwanna, visited the Bureau of Policy and Planning at the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH), on June 25th, 2012. The meeting was held with policy and planning analysts -- Ms. Supawan Manimnakorn, Ms. Nardanong Charoensunti, and Ms. Chutinad Taschan.

Leading into the discussion topics, Mr. Aram and the JICA expert gave an overview of the JICA-PRTR Project, the definition of point source and non-point source, and the target substances list, focusing on medical-related chemicals expected to be found in hospitals. An active discussion was held on the availability of data on chemicals used in hospitals in Thailand and the extent of the usage, which data are necessary for release estimation of the hospital. Despite data limitations, the Bureau of Policy and Planning, MOPH, promised their cooperation on the JICA-PRTR Project, in order to acquire the data.
