PRTR Workshop for Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand

In cooperation with the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT), a PRTR workshop for IEAT staff was held on August 28, 2012, at the office of Map Ta Phut industrial estate office, Rayong city, with Ms. Somjin Piluek, Assistant Governor of IEAT presiding over. Officers from both IEAT's headquarters and local offices in Rayong such as Hemaraj Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate, Amata City Industrial Estate, Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate, Map Ta Phut Industrial Port, and etc., participated in the workshop.

Led by Ms. Cattleya Silaratana, Director of Environmental Department, the JICA Expert team together with two other project counterparts took the opportunity to introduce the JICA-PRTR project and raise awareness of IEAT's involvement in the PRTR pilot project. To give background knowledge, the JICA Expert team together with officers from IEAT and the Pollution Control Department (PCD) delivered various presentations on the JICA-PRTR project, including details of the PRTR pilot implementation in Rayong in 2013. Additionally, a practice session on risk communication on PRTR data was held with a role-playing game. Towards the end of the workshop, participants made various constructive comments and feedback, as well as a promise for future cooperation.
