PRTR Pilot Implementation – More Support Ensured from Industrial Sector

In collaboration with the Department of Industrial Works (DIW), a meeting with key organizations of the industrial sector in Rayong was organized on October 1, 2012, at Rayong government center. Three industrial organizations – Rayong Provincial Industry Office, Federation of Thai Industry: Rayong provincial chapter, and Rayong Chamber of Commerce took part in the meeting, expressing an interest in the project.

The JICA-PRTR working team introduced the project and explained the PRTR pilot implementation plan to be carried out in 2013, covering the entire Rayong area. Proposed by the JICA Expert, the implementation structure and action plan were presented in detail, focusing on the role of Rayong Provincial Industry Office as a focal point of the PRTR pilot implementation for the factories classified as point source located outside industrial estates. As the issue had been thoroughly discussed, all three organizations confirmed their cooperation to the project, seeing the long-term benefit to the environmental management.

In cooperation with the key industrial organizations and the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand, a comprehensive coverage of emission estimation data from factories in Rayong is expected to be obtained.
