Visiting the Department of Local Administration

On October 17, 2012, a JICA Expert Team, together with Mr. Aram Bhundhawanna, a project counterpart from the Pollution Control Department (PCD), visited the Department of Local Administration (DLA), which is one of the Joint Coordinating Committee members (JCC) for the JICA-PRTR Project. A consultation meeting was held with Mr. Kukiat Nimneam, Director of Environmental Management Promotion and Public Participation Division, and the division’s officers.

Leading the discussion, Mr. Aram explained the pilot implementation plan and gave more details of the areas in which local administration, namely provincial administrative organizations, sub-district administrative organizations, and municipalities, would take a big role as PRTR focal points, including risk communication, at the community level. The JICA Expert took the opportunity to introduce the new task force for promotion of risk communication and invited DLA officers to join. After the discussion, DLA confirmed their cooperation on the pilot project and participation in the risk communication task force.
