The Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT), together with the Department of Industrial Works (DIW) and the Pollution Control Department (PCD), organized a series of workshops for factories located in industrial estates in Rayong province. Ms. Cattleya Silaratana, Director of Environment Department, IEAT, led a team of lecturers, including project counterpart Ms. Jariya Sukhapan and a JICA expert. Launching the first phase of the PRTR pilot implementation, the workshops were organized for awareness-raising, introducing the PRTR system and requesting cooperation in the pilot implementation.

Thanks to collaboration from the industrial estate offices, six workshops were successfully held, involving a number of factories classified as point sources. The workshop schedule lasted from mid-November to early December 2012, and was carried out in different parts of Rayong, namely: 1) Map Ta Phut Industrial Office for factories in Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate and Map Ta Phut Industrial Complex, 2) Ed-tech convention center, Pluak Daeng district, for factories in Amata City Industrial Estate, and 3) Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate Office for factories in Eastern Seaboard and Hemaraj Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estates.

For the next step of PRTR pilot implementation, another PRTR workshop for factories in industrial estates will be organized again in May 2013, focusing more on the technical issues of release estimation techniques.
