Continuing with the next step of pilot implementation, a series of PRTR emission estimation workshops was held in collaboration with the Department of Industrial Works (DIW) and the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT), together with the Pollution Control Department (PCD). The workshop series were organized on July 30 and August 8, 9, 14, and 15, 2013, covering the industrial sector and industrial estates in Rayong Province, with more than 250 participants.

Representatives from three main organizations included Ms. Sirakarn Leungsakul (DIW), who presented the progress of the PRTR system to enable the participants to have a neutral understanding and explanation about how to report PRTR data, as well as requesting cooperation for the first submitted report in early 2014. After the basic design of PRTR was presented, Mr. Ittipol Paw-armart (PCD) continued with an emission estimation technique for automotive industries. Ms. Jariya Sukapan (IEAT) spoke about the refinery and chemical- petrochemical industries, supported by Mr. Munehiro Fukuda and Mr. Makoto Takahashi (JICA Experts). Furthermore, in the question and answer session by our experts, the participants responded positively that they have many relevant questions to finalize their understanding of PRTR design and PRTR system development in future.

In order to complete the emission estimation workshop phase, the next workshop will be held on September 17, 2013 for the factories that could not participate. Separate workshops for other potential point sources as hospitals and colleges will be organized in early October 2013.
