The Thai Paint Manufacturers Association (TPMA) organized its annual meeting at Montien Riverside Hotel in Bangkok on December 4th, 2013. One of the highlight topics in the meeting was the presentation on PRTR given by the JICA PRTR team, Mr. Yoshiharu Shirane, JICA expert, and Mr. Aram Bhandhuwanna from the Pollution Control Department (PCD).

As paints are probably the most common chemicals used in our society and are considered an important non-point source in PRTR, the JICA PRTR team has been working closely with TPMA to establish proper emission estimation methods by identifying average chemical composition in paints, quantities used in painting activities, and chemicals released to the environment.

In the next step, TPMA will further cooperate with the JICA PRTR team to prepare an information leaflet explaining paint chemicals and PRTR for the public. TPMA's cooperation and active participation in the development of PRTR systems represent the association's commitment to environmental, health and safety issues.
