Meeting with Industry Clubs of FTI
JICA experts and project counterparts from the Department of Industrial Works (DIW) and the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) participated in meetings with various industry clubs under the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI). The purposes of the meetings were 1) awareness raising of the PRTR pilot project, and 2) information dissemination about a support plan for estimating and reporting efforts of factories under five industrial categories, i.e., wood/furniture, metal and fabricated products, electrical machinery, plastics, and the rubber industry. The support plan includes a model survey and manual preparation by IEAT for those industrial sectors, with direct consulting support by the JICA expert team.
As of early December 2013, meetings had been held with Aluminum Industry Club (Nov. 20th, 2013), Thailand Iron and Steel Industry Club (Nov. 26th 2013), and Rubber-Based Industry Club (Nov 28th, 2013). All industry clubs agreed to give their cooperation in the PRTR pilot project and information dissemination to their member companies.
Meeting with seven other industry clubs are being scheduled or planned in the near future.
