The 6th NGO meeting under JICA PRTR project was organized at PCD building on March 25, 2014. The participants from the NGO side included Mr. Ply Pirom (former Greenpeace), Ms. Anchalee Pipattanawattanakul (Greenpeace Southeast Asia, Thailand Office), and Ms. Santivipa Phanichkul (Secretary General, Global Warming Academy of Napamit Foundation). Although the number of participants from the NGO side was rather limited due to various reasons this time, a very active and fruitful discussion took place in the meeting.

The project team presented the recent progress of the PRTR pilot project in Rayong. Accordingly, issues related to involvement of local NGOs and community, measures to sustain PRTR in Thailand, and so on, were actively discussed. The importance of Thai language as a mean of communication when involving local NGOs and community was emphasized in the meeting.

In addition, the participants agreed to further enhance the dialogue between the project team and the NGO side by changing the arrangements for NGO meetings. Instead of fixed, formal biannual meetings, ad hoc meetings between the team and NGOs can be organized anytime when it becomes necessary.
