The 7th counterpart meeting of PRTR project counterparts from the Pollution Control Department (PCD), the Department of Industrial Works (DIW), and the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT), hosted by IEAT, was held on June 12, 2014, at Uthai meeting room, Map Ta Put Industrial Estate in Rayong. The meeting was co-chaired by Mr. Chumpon Cheewaprapanunt, Deputy Director-General from DIW, Ms. Somchint Pilouk, Deputy Governor from IEAT, and Mr. Jongjit Neeranartmetheekul, Director of Air Quality and Noise Bureau from PCD.

In the meeting, apart from sharing the progress of work and discussing issues in the implementation of the pilot project in Rayong, the counterparts agreed upon the necessity of JICA PRTR project extension for 1 more year in order to fully achieve the project outputs and to conduct additional activities related to risk communication. As the PRTR data reporting during the pilot phase in Rayong is expected to be compiled by the end of August 2014, the counterparts unanimously agreed that extra care must be taken during the data disclosure and risk communication processes.
